54

Today is my Pappa's birthday. Six years ago I remember sending him a nike hat and some cologne as a present. About a month later me and my mom received news from my step-mom that he passed away. My mom cried and cried. I didn't because I didn't know he was my biological father. For thirteen years I grew up thinking that my step-dad was my real father. I became angry and depressed. My grades fell and I started to act differently around my mom and my step-dad. Yelling became a daily habit of mine, and it still is today. I did meet my biological father once though. On my first trip to the Philippines I met a man whom I called "Pappa Emil." My mom said, "That's what everyone calls him." What I didn't know was that he WAS my pappa. I can still remember riding in the back of a truck with him and my mom. I fell asleep on his lap and at that moment, we were a happy family. I'd give anything to have that feeling again.

Pappa, I love you. Happy 54th birthday, and thank you for being my guardian angel.

Every relationship has it's flaws right? I just discovered ours. He is Christian and I am Catholic. I hope his parents will accept me if they ever find out about us..
